Asymmetrical Parts

We here at Pelo Hair Los Angeles love to help our clients decipher what trends will stay around for a while and which ones will be a flash in the pan. Lately, it seems asymmetrical parts are making a comeback and we don’t anticipate this trend dying down anytime soon.

Why asymmetrical part? Well, it works for any shape face and fixes imperfections – well, it gives the appearance of a correction. Whether the asymmetry is in your nose, eyes or lips, a deep or off-center side part can instantly bring harmony to any imbalanced facial feature.

Adding soft, wispy bangs to an asymmetrical part is a great way to correct face symmetry or hairline problems, especially with eyes that may appear too close together or too far apart. The worst thing you can do for eyes that are too close or too far away is to cut a blunt bang and part your hair down the center.

Below are some photos of great asymmetrical parts, which can be achieved with any of our Pelo Hair Los Angeles products.

Summer of the Bob

2014’s Summer Season will be the season of the Bob. Now, you can always add in some Pelo Hair Los Angeles Extensions after summer, when Fall 2014 is going to be the season of waist length straight hair, but if you want to know what the trend for 2014 is – keep reading.

The 2014 Bob trend will feature three main styles of the Bob. The first is going to be the chin length sleek bob. This means lots of hair gel and super straight hair with no volume. Personally, this style isn’t for me but fashion is what it is.

The other Bob style will be the shoulder length Bob with a heavy bang. To achieve this look, you will have to blow-dry your hair to obtain a lot of volume or add in our extensions, which have to be cut, to get more volume. Yes, this summer’s Bobs will be extreme. Either you have a lot of volume or you have none. There will be no in-between.

Finally, the third Bob trend for summer 2014 will be red hair. Yes, deep and dark red hair will be the major trend for June, July or August 2014. So, be prepared to wash out the hombre blonde hair and trade it in for really garnet toned hair if you are going with the trends.

Now, these trends are just what they say they are- trends. If you don’t like a Bob haircut or red hair, don’t go this route. Originality with style is always in style.

Until next time,

Worst Hair Extension Videos

We’re calling some people out this blog post. Yes, the best of the worst hair extension videos online. We found some funny ones and wanted to share what NOT to do when using, wearing or applying hair extensions.

Niki Motz, Owner of Pelo Hair

1. Trying to remove these yourself. Why!

2. Weave gone bad... on the news!

3. More news, hair extensions gone wrong.... when applied wrong! One surgical center set up a PR story to promote themselves. Nice!

The New Pelo Hair Los Angeles is Up!

Our new website is up. As I explained in yesterday’s blog, I wanted to go with a more sleek and modern feel. While I truly believe the former website was beautiful and offered tons of information, our customers wanted a quicker shopping option. One of the newest options is the ability to share your purchase using your social media account! Let me show you around the new website:

Our celebrity fans section is always updated showing where our products were featured, what celeb is Tweeting about us, who was visiting our flagship store, and much more. Make sure to check it out.

Finally, we have our new store below. As you can see all of our products are laid out by category.

Finally, we are shipping all of our products via U.S.P.S. When you click on Shipping Cart / Bag, you are provided with a shipping option that meets your needs and budget. Plus, you can see if your state has any required taxes. You are also asked to create an account, which will save your product preferences for the next time you want to shop with us.

Until next time – Happy Shopping,

Why A Woman's Hair Will Thin

I created Pelo Hair Los Angeles to provide women with beautiful and real hair options. Some women use our products to add length to their hair. Other women use our products to add color or volume to their hair. More and more women, however, are starting to use our tape hair products to help conceal thinning hair. While I'm the process of developing a signature product for these women, we still sell the tape hair at our flagship store or via phone orders (sorry, this hair isn't online as of yet). You can read more about the different hair options here: http://www.pelo-hair.com/

But why does hair thin in the first place?

A couple of reasons are behind a woman's thinning hair. First, and more common, are medical reasons. Medication, illness, infection, or chemicals all have the potential to stop hair from being formed properly. Most people lose anywhere from 50 to 100 strands of hair each day, according to the American Academy of Dermatology. If you see more hair than usual on your brush or pillow, it can be a sign that something medically is going on- especially if you're under 50 years old. Most dermatologists suggest women, concerned with hair loss or thinning hair, allow their doctors to run preliminary blood work to make sure the thyroid gland or an autoimmune disease isn’t the culprit behind a loss or hair.

Alopecia could also be a cause. This is a hereditary condition that affects about 30 million American women, according to the America Academy of Dermatology, and is the most common kind of hair loss for women of any age. General hair abuse is quite common, too. Braids that are too tight, dying one's hair too often, and the overuse of heat products and tools all will cause hair to fallout without a medical or hereditary cause.

Get to the root of the problem today! If you're experiencing hair loss / hair thinning, call your doctor. Even if you believe it is caused by hair abuse, call your doctor. It is better to be safe than sorry. If it is a hormone issue or an autoimmune issue knowing about sooner verses later is always better.
