Summer 2014 Hair Preview

We here at Pelo Hair Los Angeles are always delivering the news on up and coming hair trends. Well, we just got major scoop on the hair trends for summer 2014. Want to know what they are? Keep reading.

1. Disheveled updos. Yep, many scheduled fashion shows are already booking models to have undone updos for their summer lines. This means wearing a bun that looks like you slept in it on purpose!

2. Mixed texture hair. This trends means gelling down the top / crown of your hair and then leaving your ends brushed through, light and with no product.

3. Old world braids. Goodbye French braids and tight braids. Loose, old world braids are going to be the new thing.

Our quality and real-hair extensions are always ethically sourced. Plus, we have a new, easier shopping cart to help your online buying experience go smoothly.

EuroAsian Hair Bundles

We have an exciting new product to introduce to you. It is called EuroAsian hair and we sell it by the bundle. With ends thicker than Indian hair, this luxurious hair extension product is only available in natural colors. It is an exotic blend of high-end European and Asian hair. We love because it lasts long and looks beautiful. Our clients love it because it is super luxurious and sold as bundled hair.

Asian hair tends to have more of a darker undertone with a straight appearance. European hair is thick and has more of a wave. This blend offers our customers the best of both worlds and in the primary natural colors.

Bundles sell from 16 inches long to 30 inches long and pricing starts at $239.99 per bundle. You have the opportunity to experience this hair almost before anyone else in the country, as it hasn’t become a trend yet and is only available to exclusive pillars within the hair community.

This product can only be ordered via our website. Because it is so exclusive, we can’t offer hair dresser discounts at this time. Thank you

Thanksgiving Hair

We're back, straight from the Latin GRAMMY gifting suite. So, what are you doing for holiday hair this Thursday? We have some suggestions! Keep reading....

Try adding length. If you have family members coming into town that you haven't seen in a while, adding length to your hair will make your appearance pop. We have many different types of top-quality hair extensions, all of which can be applied in a variety of different methods. You can talk with your stylist today, order tonight and have the hair on by Thursday. How great is this?

Adding color using hair extensions is amazing, too. It requires no commitment and you can add it (or remove it) at any time. Dark brown highlights or bleached blonde thick streaks are making a comeback this holiday season.

Homemade Hair Care by Pelo Hair Los Angeles

Homemade Hair Care- DIY

We here at Pelo Hair Los Angeles sell our own signature line of hair care products. Both are affordable and designed to maintain the human hair extensions we sell. You can learn more about these products by clicking here: http://www.pelo-hair.com/#!hair-care-products/cdef However, there are a few great recipes online if you are looking to save money, use natural ingredients, and/or impress your friends.

This is one of our staff's favorite homemade hair care products- Extension Hair Mousse!

Here's how to make it:

Start by grabbing a bowl and a whisk from the kitchen.

Next, you will need two eggs.

Crack the eggs and separate the yolks from the egg whites.

Whisk the egg whites in the bowl until they form stiff peaks.

Rub the egg whites into your hair, as much or as little as needed, and place the rest in the fridge. This will keep for 48 hours.

Allow your hair to dry and then style as normal. You don't want to heat dry your hair, allow it to do so naturally.

That's it. This trick is quick, safe, chemical-free and super cheap.

What to Look for When Purchasing Brazilian Hair.

Brazilian hair is one of the best types of hair available when buying human hair extensions. So, what should you look for when purchasing Brazilian hair?

The hair has to be in its natural state or its not virgin. I've seen some women with obviously dyed hair extensions say they paid good money for virgin hair. Virgin hair means the hair was never treated with any chemicals. Brazilian hair may contain some natural highlights but obvious blonde on brown frosting is a huge red flag.

The hair needs to look healthy and shiny. Brazilian Virgin hair is popular because of its reputation as shiny, sleek and healthy appearance. Flat, dry, or damaged looking extensions should never be considered to be a good purchase option.

Buying hair out of a van or from a friend is a no-no. This should be obvious but there seems to be public perception that Virgin hair is either hard to get or expensive to get. While there are some companies that overly charge because Brazilian Virgin hair is in demand, the product itself is available in many stores, like Pelo Hair Los Angeles' Thousand Oaks store. We ship out samples for under twenty dollars- as would any solid company. Buying hair from the back of a van or a friend may be cheaper but there is no real way of knowing what you are buying.

When considering buying Brazilian Virgin hair, a woman needs to look for a natural taper at the end of the hair extension. There is a difference between Virgin and Common Brazilian hair too. Common Brazilian means the hair was collected from a few sources. Although the quality is the same, the hair has been processed to correct cuticle issues from the collection and to match a curl, wave or sleek appearance- making it far from Virgin hair.

Dramatic Wedding Hair.

Have a wedding coming up? Not sure what style to wear when it comes to your hair? Why not try something dramatic? Our ethically sourced hair extensions can make dramatic changes to your look without requiring a permanent commitment. Here are our tips for adding a little bit of drama to your special day!

#1. Crazy long hair. Want to make a princess statement? Why not try taking your lovely locks past your butt? Nothing says girly-girl like long hair. Regardless if you have short, medium or long hair- adding obscene length will add drama to your look and it looks stunning in photos, especially black and white if your hair is blonde.

#2. Bangs. Our Bangin' Bang products are perfect for giving yourself a daring, dramatic look on your wedding day. They sell for under a hundred dollars and can be customized to fit your face and create thick, wispy or curled bangs.

#3. Contrast color. If you really want to stand out on your wedding day, pick a color that is the complete opposite of your hair tone and add it as a heavy frost process. You can use platinum blonde on black hair or bright pink on blonde hair. Whatever color you may chose, adding a lot of bold chunks will create the contrast needed to develop a dramatic look.

Need help? Not sure what product or hair type to select? We are here to help. Just give us a call or send us an email. If you can Tweet a photo of yourself, we can better help you make a wedding day hair decision.

Washing Hair Extensions - The Magic Tonic

Most women who have been wearing hair extensions understand the basic when it comes to washing. Always use luke-warm water. Always use conditioner. If you have the hair on - use a detangler and put it in a bun while it dries. If you don't have the hair on, hang it dry so it doesn't tangle.

What about what to wash your hair with? Pelo Hair Los Angeles is working on a specialized line of hair care products. In the meantime, try this great hair tonic to keep your extensions flowing.

Pelo Hair Los Angeles' Magic Hair Care Tonic!
1 Cup Coconut Milk
1 Teaspoon Vitamin E oil
1/2 Teaspoon Olive oil
1/2 Cup Dr. Bronner - Castile Soap

To make this magic tonic simply combine all the ingredients into an old shampoo bottle, mix and keep for up to one month.
