Why A Woman's Hair Will Thin

I created Pelo Hair Los Angeles to provide women with beautiful and real hair options. Some women use our products to add length to their hair. Other women use our products to add color or volume to their hair. More and more women, however, are starting to use our tape hair products to help conceal thinning hair. While I'm the process of developing a signature product for these women, we still sell the tape hair at our flagship store or via phone orders (sorry, this hair isn't online as of yet). You can read more about the different hair options here: http://www.pelo-hair.com/

But why does hair thin in the first place?

A couple of reasons are behind a woman's thinning hair. First, and more common, are medical reasons. Medication, illness, infection, or chemicals all have the potential to stop hair from being formed properly. Most people lose anywhere from 50 to 100 strands of hair each day, according to the American Academy of Dermatology. If you see more hair than usual on your brush or pillow, it can be a sign that something medically is going on- especially if you're under 50 years old. Most dermatologists suggest women, concerned with hair loss or thinning hair, allow their doctors to run preliminary blood work to make sure the thyroid gland or an autoimmune disease isn’t the culprit behind a loss or hair.

Alopecia could also be a cause. This is a hereditary condition that affects about 30 million American women, according to the America Academy of Dermatology, and is the most common kind of hair loss for women of any age. General hair abuse is quite common, too. Braids that are too tight, dying one's hair too often, and the overuse of heat products and tools all will cause hair to fallout without a medical or hereditary cause.

Get to the root of the problem today! If you're experiencing hair loss / hair thinning, call your doctor. Even if you believe it is caused by hair abuse, call your doctor. It is better to be safe than sorry. If it is a hormone issue or an autoimmune issue knowing about sooner verses later is always better.

Dyeing for the 2013 Emmy Hair Trends

Yes, we are going to the Emmys! Pelo Hair Los Angeles is Emmy bound. We are participating in a gift bag event and will be posting photos of celebrities with out hair. How cool is this? In the meantime, we decided to make some hair dye predictions for the big event now. Photos below. Call or email us on how to get these looks for your own Emmy party!

Pale, pale blonde. Yes, pale blonde is back. Do this right, however. You don't want platinum or golden locks. Many celebrities are expected to lighten their dark blonde or red roots to a beach pale blonde hue.

If you want to stay red, go with a deep red that is closer to a brown hue than a straight up funky caramel apple or orange red hue. Look for ginger celebs to darken, not depart, from their red hair.

Brown hair is going to have golden accents this year. Naturally dark brunettes will have to lighten their hair to a more mellow and lighter shade.

Keep checking back here for more exclusive hair style information and trends for this year's Emmy Awards!

Homemade Hair Care by Pelo Hair Los Angeles

Homemade Hair Care- DIY

We here at Pelo Hair Los Angeles sell our own signature line of hair care products. Both are affordable and designed to maintain the human hair extensions we sell. You can learn more about these products by clicking here: http://www.pelo-hair.com/#!hair-care-products/cdef However, there are a few great recipes online if you are looking to save money, use natural ingredients, and/or impress your friends.

This is one of our staff's favorite homemade hair care products- Extension Hair Mousse!

Here's how to make it:

Start by grabbing a bowl and a whisk from the kitchen.

Next, you will need two eggs.

Crack the eggs and separate the yolks from the egg whites.

Whisk the egg whites in the bowl until they form stiff peaks.

Rub the egg whites into your hair, as much or as little as needed, and place the rest in the fridge. This will keep for 48 hours.

Allow your hair to dry and then style as normal. You don't want to heat dry your hair, allow it to do so naturally.

That's it. This trick is quick, safe, chemical-free and super cheap.

Unethical Hair Extensions

We here at Pelo Hair Los Angeles only sell ethically sourced hair extensions. We are constantly qualifying and checking our resources to ensure all the hair we receive, and sell, is from women who are fairly paid and the money is going back into the community or benefiting the host.

There is a lot of scary information on the Internet about hair extensions. With our company you don't have to worry about supporting illegal activity overseas.

So, how do you know when you are truly buying ethically sourced hair? Well, first- buy with a company (like ours) that proudly boasts that we know where our hair is derived from and have no problem making this information as transparent as possible. Secondly, don't buy hair out of a van or someone's else. You truly don't know where it is coming from or how it was sourced. There is no way of telling if the hair's host was fairly paid, treated properly, and so on. If the hair isn't purchased where a tax can be applied to it- there is no regulation.

Buying and wearing hair extensions doesn't have to be scary or make you feel like something unethical occurred. Like any retail purchase, you need to ask questions and use your judgement. If the person selling the hair seems shady- they probably are! Buy regulated hair from retailers who know where the hair came from and proudly can share the source of the hair.
